Who Is IOP For?
IOP Is the Right Level of Care
IOP may be helpful when symptoms require more support and structure than traditional weekly therapy can provide.
- Weekly therapy no longer feels like enough support
- Anxiety, depression, OCD, panic, or trauma symptoms are disrupting daily life
- Symptoms are interfering with work, school, relationships, or everyday responsibilities
- More frequent treatment and structure could help create progress
- You’re transitioning from inpatient, residential, or another higher level of care
You don’t have to determine the right level of care on your own. Our Admissions team can learn more about what you’re experiencing and help you understand your treatment options..
Intensive Outpatient Treatment
What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?
An Intensive Outpatient Program, or IOP, provides a higher level of mental health support than traditional weekly therapy without requiring an inpatient stay.
Anxiety & Depression Centers’ IOP gives you more structure, more frequent support, and evidence-based treatment while allowing you to continue living at home and stay connected to work, school, and family.
More structure than weekly therapy. More flexibility than inpatient treatment..

A Higher Level of Support
The Right Amount of Support at the Right Time
Sometimes weekly therapy simply isn’t enough.
When symptoms begin interfering with everyday life, more frequent treatment can provide the additional structure, support, and opportunities to practice new skills that are needed to make meaningful progress.
Intensive Outpatient Therapy (IOP) provides the appropriate level of care and therapeutic support for individuals struggling with OCD, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, specific phobias, and postpartum mental health challenges, helping them achieve meaningful symptom reduction and lasting improvement in their quality of life.
IOP bridges the gap between traditional outpatient therapy and more intensive inpatient or residential treatment.

What Does a Typical Week Look Like?
IOP provides treatment five days per week, giving you more consistent support than traditional outpatient therapy.
Your treatment will include therapeutic groups, skills education, individualized treatment planning, and evidence-based approaches selected around your needs and goals.
This increased frequency gives you opportunities to learn new skills, put them into practice in everyday life, and return to treatment with the support needed to continue making progress.

Questions About Intensive Outpatient Treatment
Every person’s situation is different. Our Admissions team can answer questions about the program and help determine why IOP is the correct level of care.
How long does IOP last?
The length of treatment varies based on each person’s needs, symptoms, goals, progress, and treatment plan. Your care team will work with you to determine the appropriate duration of treatment.
Can I continue working or going to school?
Because IOP does not require an inpatient stay, clients continue living at home. Whether a particular work or school schedule can be maintained will depend on program scheduling and your individual needs.
How is IOP different from weekly therapy?
Traditional outpatient therapy commonly involves one appointment per week. IOP provides more frequent and structured treatment for individuals who need a higher level of support while still being able to live at home.
Do I need a specific diagnosis to participate?
Appropriateness for IOP is based on a clinical assessment of your symptoms, needs, treatment history, and current level of functioning. Our Admissions team can help you take the next step.
Does insurance cover IOP?
Coverage varies by insurance plan. Our Admissions team can review your benefits and help you understand your coverage before treatment begins.
Insurance Covers IOP
